LASO took part in the expansion of the Serra do Sicó Wind Farm, transporting large components from various sources, including tubes, blades and nacelles. This operation, which took place between April and May 2024, involved several qualified professionals and was supported by advanced equipment and a police escort, guaranteeing the safety and efficiency of the process. LASO reaffirms its commitment to the energy transition, demonstrating once again its ability to overcome complex challenges in the renewable energy sector.
With the aim of producing more energy for the entire municipality of Pombal, LASO supported the community of Sicó in expanding its wind farm. With the aim of harnessing renewable natural resources such as wind, 4 tubes, 3 blades, 1 nacelle, 1 hub and 1 drive train were transported from different sources, thus adding another tower to the Serra do Sicó Wind Farm.
Planning for this operation began in July 2023, with work starting on April 29 and finishing on May 6. Despite the complex route from the transshipment to the unloading site, due to the large size of the components, LASO overcame all obstacles. To guarantee the safety of the entire operation, specialized equipment was used, such as the Bladelifter and axle lines, which ensured greater versatility when maneuvering the load.
The special transportation company is proud to be an active participant in the energy transition, demonstrating an ongoing commitment to efficient and effective solutions for the transportation of wind components. This operation involved more than 50 highly qualified professionals, including drivers, pilots, project managers and engineers, all dedicated to ensuring the success of the project. In addition, police escort was essential to ensure the safety of the population during transportation.
“Participating in the energy transition is a commitment we have taken on with great responsibility and enthusiasm. This project, in particular, required a joint effort from several teams and the use of advanced technology to ensure that the components arrived safely at their final destination. Cooperation between the different departments was crucial to the success of the whole operation,” LASO’s management points out.
The company also adds that “the equipment used was chosen according to the dimensions and weights of the components to be mobilized. The Bladelifter played a decisive role in enabling the wind blades to be lifted up to a 60º incline, facilitating movement along winding roads and through populated areas. This meticulous selection of equipment is guaranteed in every project we carry out.
